This episode is about parenting young children. The greatest joy and the greatest responsibility in this life. If you interact with children or have your own, THIS IS AN IMPORTANT EPISODE. I list out four different parenting styles (survey style) so you can identify your own. Also I talk about TANTRUMS (cue Jaws music). I cover the behavioral science behind ignoring, attention, and why kids tantrums get worse.

In this short episode, or "mini-sode" as I like to call it, I give a few tips on how to gently confront a person about going to see a therapist. It's easier said than done...but what is worse...feeling a bit embarrased about bringing it up? OR...Never saying anything about it but regret it later?
In the episode I talk about my resources page, which can be found at: www.throughtheeyesofatherapist.podbean.com (THREE LITTLE BARS AT THE TOP/DROPDOWN MENU)
OR listen to my episode about HOW TO FIND A THERAPIST

Three therapists tackle Stigma- Mental Health Awareness Month
Monday May 07, 2018
Monday May 07, 2018
In this episode, you will hear three therapists have a conversation about how mental health/illness stigma manifests itself in daily practice with clients. Elisa, Monica, and Cristal all have experience working with victims of crime, Latinxs, children, and trauma survivors. All these vulnerable populations experience stigma differently. Elisa speaks about how victims of crime experience stigma. She talks about her experiences with male clients and children. Monica talks about her experiences with curanderismo as mental health treatment... as well as the shortage of male therapists in her area (and everywhere else in the US, we think). And all three talk about their own history with mental health diagnoses and treatment.
